Description

‘Alice in Wonderland’ illustrated by Salvador Dali is one of the most unusual and colorful books ever made. Given work was made in collaboration of the two significant figures: Master of verbal fantasies Lewis Carroll and the artist that stated to be the Surrealism himself – Salvador Dali.

Published by Maecenas Press-Random House, New York’s in 1969 and distributed as their book of the month, the volume went on to become one of the most sought-after Dali suites of all time. It contains 12 heliogravures – one for each chapter of the book and an original etching in four colors as the frontispiece. In the given illustrations, the viewer can spot the iconic symbols of Dalinian art, such as the iconic ‘Melted Watch’ or the figure of Alice that can be found in every image floating away with its jumping rope. Through the surreal expression of Wonderland, Dali explores the mysterious nature of dreams and their effect on our daily lives.  By using a vast repertoire of characters and allegories, Dali reveals the surrealistic and experimental vision of the world.
