Description
The series ‘Conquest of Cosmos’ (‘La Conquête du Cosmos’) consists of twelve original engravings with lithographic color.
Science has always been a passion for Salvador Dali, and ever since the launch of the Soviet artificial satellite into orbit in 1957, the great task for the humankind of conquering outer space was laid. Such a revolutionary step in the history of science led Dali to dream of the cosmic landscapes and inspired him to create the given set of engravings.
By looking through the series ‘Conquest of Cosmos’, the viewer can spot the iconic symbols of Dalinean art, such as the melted watch, crutches, the burning giraffe, butterflies, and many more.
