Description

In 1870, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch wrote the first ‘Venus in Furs’ story and by this way he gave his name to the invention of the term “sadomasochism”.

His book was a great success. This is the first famous novel that dissertates about love between man and woman, representing the moment where love turns into an extreme version of itself.

Salvador Dalí is best known for his unique Surrealistic vision of the world utilizing fantastic symbols to create magnificent artworks. The Catalan Master is considered among the great graphic master of his century. Created when Dalí was at the height of his Surrealist powers, this hand-signed original engraving shows the Dalinian interpretation of the novel.

Dali’s desire was to fully possess the world of objects as well as their various symbolic and metaphorical meanings, especially by incorporating them. The shoe invests the potential to be the symbol of feminism, passion, desire and erotism, which are the main themes of the ‘Venus in Furs’ story
